The heart is of three types:
First – A heart that is filled with consciousness of Almighty Allāh, purified with obedience to Him, and away from bad morals. Such a heart receives guidance from Allah and security from Shaitan.
Second – A careless heart that is filled with desires of this world and stained with sins. Such a heart is easily controlled by Shaitan who transforms it into a blinded heart that is unable to absorb the guidance of Allah.
Third – A heart that is being tempted by evil thoughts and desires, but at the same time, faithful thoughts keep calling it to the way of good.
But, the faithful thoughts in that person's heart defend the attack of Shaitan.

Satan attacks a person's heart by attracting it to sins. For example, the Shaitan says:
1- "keep enjoying, life is long, you can repent later!"
2- "oh, you have too many sins. Allah will not forgive you, keep doing sins!"
3- "you are young, have some fun!"
4- "everybody's doing it. don't be an extremist. spice up your life!"
5- "don't remain cool during anger, abuse him and hit him, patience is for cowards!"

They remind him to fear Allah who is watching over him. They remind him
that these temptations are evil and must be fought against. They remind
him not to forget the Judgement Day and the ultimate destination -
Paradise or Hell.
Finally, depending upon the choice he makes, he either commits the sin leading to his destruction or leaves the sin leading to his victory.
Quran 10:108 "Whoever receives guidance does so for the good of his own self; and whosoever goes astray, he does so to his own loss."

Make your heart
strong against the attacks of Shaitan so that you can defeat him and be a
winner on Judgement Day.

(Allaahumma Musarrif al-Quloobi Sarrif Quloobana ‘alaa Taa’atika)
"O Allah, Turner of the hearts, guide our hearts to Your obedience."
