You can't PICK and CHOOSE what to follow in Islam

O ye who believe! Enter into Islam whole-heartedly (
obeying all the rules and regulations of the Islâmic religion); and follow not the footsteps of the Evil One (Shaytaan); for he is to you an avowed enemy. If ye backslide after the clear (signs) have come to you, then know that Allah is Exalted in Power, Wise. Will they wait until Allah comes to them in canopies of clouds, with angels (in His train) and the matter is (thus) judged? But to Allah do all matters go back (for decision).

(Qur'an 2:208-210)

Many a times we intentionally choose not to follow certain parts of the deen because we feel that they are too rigid, or not possible for us to follow or just too out-dated. If things were supposed to be that way, then there was no point for ALLAH to ask us to enter into Islam completely.

For those who intentionally disobey any law of ALLAH and make different excuses for it, they are questioned in the next verse "Are they waiting for ALLAH to come down from the heavens to make the judgement on this matter?"

Are we waiting for the doors of repentance to close before we realize our mistakes and repent? Is it really a good decision to choose the temporary pleasures of this world over the infinitely-long Hereafter?
