Missing Verse On Suckling?

Missing Verse On Suckling?
By
Bassam Zawadi

Note: FIRST READ THIS ARTICLE (*)

Here are the hadiths which supposedly speak about the "missing verse" from the Qur'an:

Saheeh Muslim
Book 008, Number 3421:'A'isha (Allah be pleased with, her) reported that it had been revealed in the Holy Qur'an that ten clear sucklings make the marriage unlawful, then it was abrogated (and substituted) by five sucklings and Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) died and it was before that time (found) in the Holy Qur'an (and recited by the Muslims).
Malik's Muwatta
Book 030, Hadith Number 017.
-----------------------------
Section : Suckling in General.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Abdullah ibn Abi Bakr ibn Hazm from Amra bint Abd ar-Rahman that A'isha, the wife of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Amongst what was sent down of the Qur'an was 'ten known sucklings make haram' - then it was abrogated by 'five known sucklings'. When the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, died, it was what is now recited of the Qur'an." Yahya said that Malik said, "One does not act on this."

Imam Nawawi says in his commentary on Saheeh Muslim...

åæ ÈÖã ÇáíÇÁ ãä ( íÞÑà ) æãÚäÇå Ãä ÇáäÓÎ ÈÎãÓ ÑÖÚÇÊ ÊÃÎÑ ÅäÒÇáå ÌÏÇ ÍÊì Ãäå Õáì Çááå Úáíå æÓáã ÊæÝí æÈÚÖ ÇáäÇÓ íÞÑà ÎãÓ ÑÖÚÇÊ æíÌÚáåÇ ÞÑÂäÇ ãÊáæÇ áßæäå áã íÈáÛå ÇáäÓÎ áÞÑÈ ÚåÏå ÝáãÇ ÈáÛåã ÇáäÓÎ ÈÚÏ Ðáß ÑÌÚæÇ Úä Ðáß æÃÌãÚæÇ Úáì Ãä åÐÇ áÇ íÊáì
There is a dumma on the letter ya'a and it means that the abrogation of the five sucklings came very late until the time that the Prophet (peace be upon him) died and a few people were reciting the five sucklings verse making it part of the Qur'an for they might not have been informed of its abrogation. So when he (Muhammad peace be upon him) did inform them afterwards they stopped reciting it and formed a consensus that this verse should not be recited anymore. (Imam Nawawi, Sharh Saheeh Muslim, Kitab: Al Ridaa', Bab: Al Tahreem Bi Khams Ridaa'aat, Commentary on hadith no.2634, Source )

Al Sindi says in his commentary on Sunan Al Nisaa'i...

ÝÞíá Åä ÇáÎãÓ ÃíÖÇ ãäÓæÎÉ ÊáÇæÉ ÅáÇ Ãä äÓÎåÇ ßÇä Ýí ÞÑÈ æÝÇÊå Õáì Çááå ÊÚÇáì Úáíå æÓáã Ýáã íÈáÛ ÈÚÖ ÇáäÇÓ ÝßÇäæÇ íÞÑÁæäå Ííä ÊæÝí Õáì Çááå ÊÚÇáì Úáíå æÓáã Ëã ÊÑßæÇ ÊáÇæÊå

It is said that the five's (verse on five sucklings) recitation has been abrogated and its abrogation came near the death of the Prophet (peace be upon him) so some people weren't informed about it. So they used to recite it but when the Prophet (peace be upon him) died they left its recitation. (Al Sindi, Sharh Sunan Al Nisaa'i, Kitab: Al Nikah, Bab: Al Qadar Allazhi Yuharrim Min Al Ridaa'aa, Commentary on Hadith no. 3255,Source

Muhammad Shams al-Haqq al-Adhim Abadi says in his commentary on Sunan Abu Dawud...

æÇáãÚäì Ãä ÇáäÓÎ ÈÎãÓ ÑÖÚÇÊ ÊÃÎÑ ÅäÒÇáå ÌÏÇ ÍÊì Ãäå Õáì Çááå Úáíå æÓáã ÊæÝí æÈÚÖ ÇáäÇÓ íÞÑà ÎãÓ  ÑÖÚÇÊ æíÌÚáåÇ ÞÑÂäÇ ãÊáæÇ áßæäå áã íÈáÛå ÇáäÓÎ áÞÑÈ ÚåÏå ÝáãÇ ÈáÛåã ÇáäÓÎ ÈÚÏ Ðáß ÑÌÚæÇ Úä Ðáß æÃÌãÚæÇ Úáì Ãä åÐÇ áÇ íÊáì . æÇáäÓÎ ËáÇËÉ ÃäæÇÚ : ÃÍÏåÇ ãÇ äÓÎ Íßãå æÊáÇæÊå ßÚÔÑ ÑÖÚÇÊ . æÇáËÇäí ãÇ äÓÎÊ ÊáÇæÊå  Ïæä Íßãå ßÎãÓ ÑÖÚÇÊ

And what this means is that the abrogation by five sucklings was revealed very late to the extent that when the Prophet (peace be upon him) died, some people were still reciting the verse of five sucklings and making it part of recited Qur'an for they were not informed about its abrogation but when they were after that, they went back on that and formed a consensus on that this verse must not be recited. And abrogation is of three types: One of them is that its ruling and recitation be abrogated just like the ten sucklings verse. And the second is that its recitation has been abrogated without its ruling just like the five sucklings verse... (Muhammad Shams al-Haqq al-Adhim Abadi, Awn al-Mabud Sharh Sunan Abu Dawud, Kitab: Al Nikah, Bab: Hal Yuhharram Ma Doona Khamsa Ridaa'aat, Commentary on hadith no. 1765, Source

Sheikh Muhammed Salih Al-Munajjid said...

For breastfeeding to have the effect of transmitting its benefits from the nursing woman to the child suckled, it must meet certain conditions, which are:
  1. The breastfeeding must happen within the first two years of the child's life, because Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): "The mothers shall give suck to their children for two whole years, (that is) for those (parents) who desire to complete the term of suckling." [al-Baqarah 2:233].
  2. The number of breastfeedings must total the known five feeds, in which the child eats his fill as if eating and drinking. If the child leaves the breast for a reason, such as to take a breath or to switch from one breast to the other, this (i.e., each separate time the child latches on) is not counted as one breastfeeding. This is the opinion of al-Shaafa'i, and the opinion favoured by Ibn al-Qayyim. The definition of rad'ah (one breastfeeding) is when the child sucks at the breast and drinks until the milk enters his stomach, then he leaves the breast of his own accord. The evidence for the number five (number of breastfeedings) is the report from 'Aa'ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) who said: "There was in the Qur'aan [an aayah which stipulated that] ten [was the number of] breastfeedings which created the relationship of mahram, then this was abrogated [by another aayah which stipulated] five. The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) died and [the aayah which stipulated five] was still being recited as part of the Qur'aan." (Reported by Muslim, 1452). In other words, the abrogation came so late that when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) died, some people had not yet heard that this aayah had been abrogated, but when they heard that it had been abrogated, they stopped reciting it, and agreed that it should not be recited, although the ruling mentioned in the aayah remained in effect. This is an abrogation of the recitation without abrogation of the ruling, which is one type of abrogation. (Source)

We can clearly see that the evidence shows that the consensus amongst the companions of the Prophet (peace be upon him) was that the verse's recitation was meant to be abrogated and it was also commanded by the Prophet (peace be upon him) to abrogate this verse. However, the command came just a very short while before the Prophet's (peace be upon him) death and therefore not everyone was informed about it and some still thought that it was still a recited part of the Quran. However, once they have been informed that the Prophet (peace be upon him) ordered its abrogation, then they stopped reciting it.

"Happy Birthday God!!!" Can You Digest This Phrase?

"Happy Birthday God!!!" Can You Digest This Phrase?

Christmas is here and so is the promotion of the godship of Jesus (peace be upon him). A new Muslim, who was earlier a Hindu, was approached by a Christian to become a Christian. The revert responded: “Can you give me a few reasons why I should leave Krishna and Rama and instead worship Jesus? I used to worship human gods in a large number,
Islam made me leave them and now you want to add one more human in the list of the human gods I have already left?"

ISLAM is the ONLY religion which has protected the original concept of God, which is actually in the original teachings of Christianity and Hinduism, as well.

♦ In the BIBLE, it is clearly stated that God is not like anything, not like a human or any other being: "I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me." (Isaiah 46:9) "Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:" [Exodus 20:4-5]

♦ The HINDU scriptures teach the same: "He is One only without a second." "Of Him there are neither parents nor lord." "There is no likeness of Him." "His form is not to be seen; no one sees Him with the eye."
{References: [Chandogya Upanishad 6:2:1]1, [Svetasvatara Upanishad 6:9]2, Svetasvatara Upanishad 4:19]3, [Svetasvatara Upanishad 4:20]4}

These teachings are exactly similar to what we learn from the Qur'an:

Say: "He is Allah, (the) One
Allah, the Self-Sufficient Master
He begets not, nor was He begotten;
And there is none co-equal or comparable unto Him."
[Qur'an 102:1-4]

If only our non-Muslim friends followed their own religious scriptures, then they would also have worshiped the One, True God.

Horoscopes, zodiac signs, reading fortune cookies

► "Is it okay if I just read the horoscope, but don't believe it?"
"Can I read the paper in my Fortune cookie?" ◄

Those who read a horoscope or visit a fortune-teller and believe them are guilty of kufr; if they do not believe them, their prayers will still not be accepted from them for 40 days.

Prophet (S) said “Whoever goes to a fortune-teller and believes what he says, has disbelieved in what was revealed to Muhammad.”
(Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, classed as Saheeh)

He (S) also said, “Whoever goes to a fortune-teller and asks him about anything, his prayers will not be accepted for forty days.”
(Narrated by Muslim)

-->-- Asking a fortune-teller or soothsayer about anything is haraam, and that includes asking him about lost or stolen items, or asking him about a disease and the remedy for it. --<-- br="br">
The scholars of the Standing Committee for Issuing Fatwas stated: "It is not permissible for you to go to him because he is a soothsayer, and it was narrated in a saheeh report that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) forbade going to soothsayers and their like, and asking them and believing them."
[Fataawa al-Lajnah al-Daa’imah (1/410)]

► Messenger of Allaah (S) said: “Whoever seeks knowledge from the stars is seeking one of the branches of witchcraft…”
(Abu Dawood; saheeh)

► The people asked the Prophet (S) about fortune-tellers, and he said: "They are nothing."They said: "O Messenger of Allah, they say things that come true.''
The Prophet (S) said: "The angels speak in the clouds about some matter
(decreed) on earth, and the Shayateen (devils) overhear what they say, so they tell it to the fortune-teller, gurgling into his ear like (a liquid poured) from a glass bottle, and he adds to it one hundred lies."
(Bukhari)

If exposing your body means that you are "Modern" then, animals are the most modern creatures on earth!

Hijab protects the honor of women: Allah says in the Qur'an, “O Prophet! Tell thy wives and daughters, and the believing women that they should cast their outer garments over their persons (when abroad); that is most convenient, that they should be known (as such) and not molested. And Allah
is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” [Al-Qur’an 33:59]

Take the example of twin sisters: Suppose two sisters who are twins, and who are equally beautiful, walk down the street. One of them is attired in the Islamic hijaab i.e. the complete body is covered, except for the face and the hands up to the wrists. The other sister is wearing western clothes, a mini skirt or shorts. Just around the corner there is a hooligan or ruffian who is waiting for a catch, to tease a girl. Whom will he tease? The girl wearing the Islamic Hijaab or the girl wearing the skirt or the mini? Naturally he will tease the girl wearing the skirt or the mini. Such dresses are an indirect invitation to the opposite sex for teasing and molestation. The Qur’an rightly says that hijaab prevents women from being molested.

Hijab improves the society: United States of America is supposed to be one of the most advanced countries of the world. It also has one of the highest rates of rape in any country in the world. According to a FBI report, in the year 1990, every day on an average 1756 cases of rape were committed in U.S.A alone. Later another report said that on an average everyday 1900 cases of rapes are committed in USA. The year was not mentioned. May be it was 1992 or 1993. It has been increasing.

Consider a scenario where the Islamic hijaab is followed in America. Whenever a man looks at a woman and any brazen or unashamed thought comes to his mind, he lowers his gaze. Every woman wears the Islamic hijaab, that is the complete body is covered except the face and the hands upto the wrist. After this if any man commits rape he is given capital punishment. I ask you, in such a scenario, will the rate of rape in America increase, will it remain the same, or will it decrease?

Hijab is not oppression, it is a blessing from Almighty Allah.

Even listening to backbiting is a sin!

► My friend backbites about people. What should I do? ◄

Qur'an 49:12>> "Backbite not one another. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? You would hate it (so hate backbiting). And fear Allah. Verily, Allah is the One Who forgives and accepts repentance, Most Merciful.''

► What if it is true?

The Messenger of Allah (S) said, "Do you know what is backbiting?'' The Companions said: "Allah and His Messenger know better.''
Thereupon he said, "Backbiting is talking about your brother (i.e. fellow muslim) in a manner which he dislikes.'' It was said to him: "What if my brother is as I say.'' He said, "If he is actually as you say, then that is backbiting; but if that is not in him, that is slandering.'' [Muslim]

► Do not look for others' faults

Prophet (S) said "O assembly of those who have believed with their tongues, but into whose hearts faith has not yet reached! Do not backbite the Muslims, nor seek out their secrets! For, whoever seeks out the faults of his brother, Allah will seek out his secrets. And, whoever has his secrets sought out by Allah, Allah will disgrace him, even [if he hides] in the depths of his house.
[Abu Dawud]

► The severe punishment for backbiting

The Messenger of Allah (S) said during the Mi`raj (the Night of Ascension), he saw a group of people who were scratching their chests and faces with copper nails. He asked, `Who are these people, O Jibril?' Jibril replied: `These are the people who ate flesh of others (by backbiting) and trampled people's honor.'"
[Abu Dawud]

► The honor of a Muslim is sacred

Prophet (S) said "The blood, honour and property of a Muslim is inviolable for another Muslim."
[Muslim]

► Stop others from backbiting

The Prophet (S) said, "Allah will secure his face against the Fire on the Day of ResurrectionHe who defends the honour of his (Muslim) brother,
[At-Tirmidhi]

► Imam Nawawi (rh) said: Note that the one who hears any backbiting about a Muslim should refute it and rebuke the one who says it. If he does not rebuke him in words he should rebuke him by his actions. If he cannot rebuke him by his actions or his words, then he should leave that gathering.

Prophet (S) said “Whoever among you sees an evil action, let him change it with his hand (by taking action); if he cannot, then with his tongue (by speaking out); and if he cannot, then with his heart (by hating it and feeling it is wrong), and that is the weakest of faith.” [Sahih Muslim]

Bored? Have some Halaal Entertainment! :)

The society we live in is centered around "Having Fun". Our evenings are spent in front of the TV, watching soap operas and movies, even that which contain haraam (uncovered women, music, immoral storyline, etc.). And that too, with our families!

And we do all this to "entertain" and "relax" ourselves...with what? With that which Allaah has forbidden
you from doing and that which takes you closer to Hell?

Leisure time will always be occupied with something: good or evil. So, make sure you fill your leisure time with HALAAL ENTERTAINMENT.

How to have Halaal Entertainment:
Part 1- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GwcddZI-5wE
Part 2- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e0dgg95MHhc
Part 3- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SLArVwEnkfI

Top 10 ways of having Halal entertainment:
http://islamtruth4all.blogspot.com/2011/11/10-ways-to-have-halaal-entertainment.html

► Although, seeking pleasure in a Halaal way is absolutely allowed, yet that is not the purpose of our creation.

Quran 51:56]"And I (Allaah) created not the jinn and mankind except that they should worship Me (Alone)"

So, we need to find that perfect balance in our lives that governed the lives of the Prophet (SAWS) and the Sahabah.

Bilaal ibn Sad said: "I saw them [the Sahaabah] jokingly pretending to fight over some goods, and laughing with one another, but when night came they were like monks (i.e., devoted worshippers)."

Ibn Umar was asked, "Did the Companions of the Prophet (pbuh) laugh?" He said, "Yes, and the faith in their hearts was like mountains."

► Remember, Allaah will ask us how we spent our time in this world

Prophet (S) said "On the Day of Resurrection the feet of the son of Adam will not move away till he is questioned about four matters: how he spent his lifetime, how he spent his youth; from where he acquired his wealth and how he spent it, and what he did with his knowledge." (Tirmidhi)

Non-Muslim Celebrations

Wishing non-muslims on their festivals?

"Congratulating the kuffaar on the rituals that belong only to them is haraam by consensus, as is congratulating them on their festivals and fasts by saying ‘A happy festival to you’ or ‘May you enjoy your festival,’ and so on. If the one who says this has been saved from kufr, it is still forbidden. It is like congratulat
ing someone for prostrating to the cross, or even worse than that (i.e. it is like encouraging their act of joining partners with the one, true God). Whoever congratulates a person for his disobedience or bid’ah (innovations) or kufr (disbelief) exposes himself to the wrath and anger of Allaah."
(Ibn al-Qayyim, in Ahkaam Ahl al-Dhimmah)

So congratulating them is forbidden, whether they are one’s colleagues at work or otherwise.

Accepting their invitation to join their celebration?

It is haraam for a Muslim to accept invitations on such occasions, because this is worse than congratulating them as it implies taking part in their celebrations, and thus, helping them to commit transgression. Taking part in their festivals also involves imitating the kuffaar, which is forbidden in Islam. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever imitates a people is one of them.” (Reported by Abu Dawood and Ahmad).

Whoever does anything of this sort is a sinner, whether he does it out of politeness or to be friendly, or because he is too shy to refuse, or for whatever other reason, because this is hypocrisy in Islaam.

Accepting their invitation for a meal?

If what is referred to is accepting an invitation to a meal, for example, and there is nothing involved that is forbidden in Islam, such as mixing of men and women, or foods forbidden by Allaah such as wine and pork, or dancing and music and so on, and this participation does not imply that one loves these kuffaar, then there is nothing wrong with accepting their invitation. He should try to convey the message of Islam to them. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) accepted the invitation of some of the Jews. (Sheikh Muhammed Salih Al-Munajjid)

The Believers Who Allah is Proud of...

The Messenger of Allah (S) went out to a circle of his Companions and said, "What has made you sit there?"
When they replied that they are sitting together to remember Allah and to praise Him for guiding them to Islam and bestowing favours on them, he (s.a.w.s) said, "I adjure you by Allah to tell me that nothing else has made you sit together."
On their
reply that there was certainly no other purpose, he (s.a.w.s) said, "I did not adjure you because I suspected you, but Jibril (Gabriel) came to me and told me that Allah was talking proudly of you to the angels."
[Muslim]

Commentary by Imam Nawawi: This Hadith mentions the merits of the meetings which are held for the remembrance of Allah, as well as, the great virtue of those who participate in them.

► The Great Reward of Attending Halaqahs (Islamic gatherings) ◄

Allah's Messenger (S) said: "There is a group of angels who patrol the earth and wherever they find any gathering that remembers Allah, they call out to each other and form a circle around this gathering that reaches to the sky. When this gathering disperses, they return to the sky where they are questioned by Allah, although He is All-knowing: "Where have you come from?"
They reply: "We come from a gathering of Your servants who are engaged in Tasbeeh, Takbeer and Tahmeed."
Allah asks them: "Have they seen Me?"
The angels reply: "No."
Allah asks: "And what if they had seen Me?"
They reply: "Then they would have engaged even more excessively in Your Ibaadah and in Tasbeeh (glorifying of) You."
Allah says: "What are they asking for?"
They reply: "They ask for Jannah."
Allah then asks: "Have they seen Jannah?"
The angels reply: "No."
Allah asks: "And what if they had seen Jannah?"
They reply: "Then they would have been even more desirous, eager and keen for it." Allah says: "What are they seeking refuge from?"
They reply: "They ask refuge from the Fire (of Hell)."
Allah asks: "Have they seen the Fire?"
The angels reply: "No."
Allah asks: "And what if they had seen it?"
They reply: "Then they would have tried harder to escape from it and they would have been more fearful of it."
Allah says: "I make you witness that I have pardoned them."
One angel exclaims: "A certain person was not from them. He came (coincidentally) for some work."
Allah says: "They are such a people that even those who sit with them (for other work) will not be deprived."

(Reported by Bukhari, Muslim)

Co-operation, not competition

♦ Competition = RIVALRY between people striving for the same prize or profit. ♦

The opposite of competition is co-operation.

♦ Co-operation= ASSOCIATION between people to achieve a common benefit. ♦

Imagine how smoothly things would run if everybody was working together towards a common benefit, and everybody would be winners and no losers.

-->♦-- For you to be successful you do not have to cause failure to others. The blessings of Allah are unlimited and the Prophet (S) taught us “None of you truly believes until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself.” [Bukhârî] --♦<-- br="br">
We as Muslims want and strive to be successful in this life and the next, Inshallah.

Over 1400 years ago, the Holy Qur’an spoke about cooperation that should exist between us and in which matters.

♦♦♦ Quran 5:2>> "Help you one another in Al Birr and At Taqwa (virtue, righteousness and piety); but do not help one another in sin and transgression. And fear Allah. Verily, Allâh is Severe in punishment."

Similar verses that encourage co-operation in performing good deeds are:

♦♦♦ Quran 8:74>> And those who believed, and emigrated and strove hard in the Cause of Allâh, as well as those who gave (them) asylum and aid; – these are the believers in truth, for them is forgiveness and Rizqun Karîm (a generous provision i.e. Paradise).

♦♦♦ Quran 9:71>> "The believers, men and women, are Auliya’ (helpers, supporters, protectors) of one another, they enjoin (on the people) Al-Ma’rûf (i.e. Islâmic Monotheism and all that Islâm orders one to do), and forbid (people) from Al-Munkar (i.e. polytheism and disbelief of all kinds, and all that Islâm has forbidden); they perform As-Salât (Iqâmat-as-Salât) and give the Zakât, and obey Allâh and His Messenger. Allâh will have His Mercy on them. Surely Allâh is All-Mighty, All-Wise."

Prepared to cross the bridge over Hell?

The Prophet (S) said: "The bridge over Hell is like the sharp edge of a sword. The first group to cross it will pass like a flash of lightning. The second group will pass like the wind. The third group will pass like the fastest horse. The fourth group will pass like the fastest cow. Then, the rest will pass while the angels will be saying, `O Allah sav
e them, save them.'"
(Sahih Bukhari)

Quran 19:71-72] "There is not one of you but will pass over it (Hell); this is with your Lord; a Decree which must be accomplished. Then We shall save those who use to fear Allah and were dutiful to Him. And We shall leave the Zalimûn (polytheists and wrongdoers) therein (humbled) to their knees (in Hell)."

Tafsir Ibn Kathir: When all of the creatures passed over the Hellfire, and those disbelievers and the disobedient people who are destined to fall into it because of their disobedience, Allah will save the believers and the righteous people from it because of their deeds. Therefore, their passing over the bridge and their speed will be based upon their deeds that they did in this life.

May Allah make us and our families cross the bridge like a flash of lightning!

The Greatest Sin - BID'AH (innovating or adding new practices to Islam

Some muslims mix their culture and traditions with Islam and introduce new religious practices, which are termed as "bid'ah". Bid'ah is the greatest sin a Muslim can commit (followed by: Gunah Al-Kabeerah (Major Sins) and Gunah Al-Sagheerah (Minor Sins)].

The Prophet (S) stated that: "Every newly-invented thing (in religi
on) is a bid'ah, every bid'ah is a going astray, and every going astray will be in the Fire."
(Nisaa'i in al-Sunan)

He (S) also said: "Whoever innovates something in this matter of ours (i.e. Islam) that is not a part of it will have it rejected."
(Bukhaari)

Why Shaitan loves bid'ah more than any other sin

A person who commits sins, knows that what he is doing is wrong. So, at some point he may regret and repent to Allah.
But a person who does bid'ah, continues doing it while thinking that he is actually doing a good deed. And so, he never repents from it.

Bid'ah means denying that Islam is complete

When a person innovates something and adds to the religion something that does not belong to it, he is implying a number of bad things, for example:

- That the religion is incomplete, that Allaah did not complete and perfect it, and that there can be more improvement. This clearly contradicts the statement in the Qur'aan:
"… This day, I have perfected your religion for you, completed My favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion…" [al-Maa'idah 5:3]

- That the Prophet (S), his Companions were "less righteous" and they missed out on the reward of doing this "good innovation".

The innovator (one who does bid'ah) must correct himself and say to himself, "If it was truly good, the Prophet (S) and his companions would have been the first to do it."

How Shaitan will betray his followers (the sinners) on Judgement Day

Quran 14:22] And Shaitan (Satan) will say when the matter has been decided: "Verily, Allah promised you a promise of truth. And I too promised you, but I betrayed you. I had no authority over you except that I called you, so you responded to me. So blame me not, but blame yourselves. I cannot help you, nor can you help me.
I deny your former act in associating me (Satan) as a partner with Allah (by obeying me in the life of the world). Verily, there is a painful torment for the wrong-doers."

Satan has promised that he will beautify the path of sins for mankind and will encourage them to commit sins.

Quran 15:39] Iblees (Satan) said to Allah: "I shall indeed adorn the path of error for them (mankind) on the earth, and I shall mislead them all."

Quran 35:6] "Surely, Shaitan (Satan) is an enemy to you, so take (treat) him as an enemy. He only invites his followers that they may become the dwellers of the blazing Fire."

TOP 5 Tricks of shaitan (which can take us to hell-fire):
◕1- "keep enjoying, life is long, you can repent later!"
◕2- "oh, you have too many sins. Allah will not forgive you, keep doing sins!"

Better than alllll the rewards in Paradise!

Messenger of Allah (S) said: Allah will say to the inhabitants of Paradise: "O inhabitants of Paradise!"
They will say: "O our Lord, we present ourselves and are at Your pleasure, and goodness rests in Your hands."
Then He will say: "Are you contented?"
And they will say: "And how should we not be contented, O Lord, when You have given to us that which You have given to no one else of Your creation?"
Then He will say: "Would not like Me to give you something better than that?"
And they will say: "O Lord and what thing is better than that?"
And He will say: "I shall cause My favour to descend upon you and thereafter shall never be displeased with you."

Allah's response when you recite Surah Fatiha

Allah has said: "I have divided prayer between Myself and My servant into two halves, and My servant shall have what he has asked for."
When the servant says: {Al-hamdu lillaahi rabbil-aalameen},
Allah says: "My servant has praised Me".
and when he says: {Ar-rahmaanir-raheem}
Allah says: "My servant has extolled Me",
and when he says: {Maaliki yawmid-deen},
Allah says: "My servant has glorified Me" - and on one occasion He said: "My servant has submitted to My power."
And when he says: {Iyyaka na'budu wa iyyaka nasta'een},
He says: "This is between Me and My servant, and My servant shall have what he has asked for."
And when he says: {Ihdinas-siraatal mustaqeem, siraatal ladhina an 'amta 'alayhim ghayril-maghdoobi 'alayhim wa lad-daaallin}
He says: "This is for My servant, and My servant shall have what he has asked for."

Why are Monday and Thursday special?

Allah’s Messenger (S) said:
"The deeds of people are presented (to Allah) every week on two days: Monday and Thursday, and every believing servant would be granted pardon except the one in whose (heart) there is rancour against his brother and it would be said: Leave them and put them off until they are turned to reconciliation."
(Muslim)

Messenger of Allah (S) said: “Deeds are presented (to Allah) on Monday and Thursday and I like my deeds to be presented when I am fasting.”
(Saheeh al-Tirmidhi)

4 Lessons Every Muslim Must Remember

Allah's Messenger (S) said:
1) "Safeguard the Commandments of Allah, you will find Him before you."

meaning: If you take care of the commands of Allah and obey Him, then Allah will take care of your needs and help you.

2) "Remember Him (Allah) in prosperity and He will remember you in adversity."

meaning: We notice that many selfish people turn to Allah and pray to Him only when they are in difficulty, but when they enjoy a comfortable life, they forget Allah and His commandments. If you are obedient and thankful to Allah during good times, Allah will support you during your bad times.

3) "Be sure that which you miss, was not going to befall you; and what has befallen you, was never going to miss you."

meaning: Don't be sad if you lost something and don't be proud if you have won something, because nothing happens in this world except through the leave of Allah. If you have achieved happiness, remember that it was Allah who ordained it for you, so do not be proud, be humble and give thanks to Allah. If you have experienced hurt and failure, remember even this was ordained by Allah as a test that if you are a true believer then you would seek His help and show patience, instead of complaining and losing trust in Him.

4) "Remember that the Help of Allah is obtained with patience, and relief emerges after distress, prosperity follows adversity, and hardship is followed by ease."

meaning: Here, there is a good news for you if you are going through a difficult phase of life. Whatever trouble that you suffer in this world is temporary. Every trouble is followed by prosperity, pleasure and happiness.

(Hadith reported by Tirmidhi)

If you need help, ask Allah. If you have to beg, beg to Allah

Prophet s.a.w. said:

"Be watchful of Allah (Commandments of Allah), He will preserve you.
Safeguard His Rights, He will always be with you.
If you beg, beg of Him Alone;
and if you need assistance, supplicate to Allah Alone for help.
And remember that if all the people gather to benefit you, they will not be able to benefit you except that which Allah had foreordained (for you); and if all of them gather to do harm to you, they will not be able to afflict you with anything other than that which Allah had pre-destined against you.
The pens had been lifted and the ink had dried up".

[Tirmidhi]

Have you tasted the Sweetness of Faith?

The Messenger of Allah (S) said: “He has tasted the sweetness of faith; he who is content with Allah as his Lord, Islam as his religion, and Muhammad (S) as his Prophet.”
[Sahih Muslim]

The Prophet (S) said, "Whoever possesses the following three qualities will have the sweetness (delight) of faith:
1. The one to whom Allah and His Apostle becomes dearer than anything else.
2. Who loves a person and he loves him only for Allah's sake.
3. Who hates to revert to disbelief as he hates to be thrown into the fire."
(Sahih al bukhari)

In Difficult Moments, Remember "No Calamity Is TOO MUCH To Bear"

When a sudden calamity or distress befalls us, we often cry out, “O Allah! This is too much for me to bear!”

But, it never is.

The believers should know it for fact that Allah never puts any burden on a soul that is beyond its ability to bear.

Quran 2:286] "Allah burdens not a person beyond his scope."
Quran 23:62] "And We burden not any person except according to his capacity, and with Us is a Record which speaks the truth, and they will not be wronged."
Quran 6:152] "No burden do We place on any soul but that which it can bear."
Quran 7:42] "And those who believe and do good – We do not impose upon any of them a burden beyond his capacity."

A calamity is a test of a believer's level of faith and commitment to Allah. It would be an injustice to put a burden on a soul that it will surely fail. "and your Lord is not at all unjust to (His) slaves." (Qur'an 41:46)

No One Will Help You With Your Burden On Judgement Day

Your best friend, your relatives or even your mother who loves you the most - None of these will lighten your burden of sins on Judgement Day.

Quran 53:38] "No bearer of burdens shall bear the burden (of sins) of another."

Even your dearest and closest relative will not come to help you.

Quran 35:18] "And if one heavily laden calls another to (bear) his load, nothing of it will be lifted even though he be a near relative."

Just as no soul shall carry the burden of any other, the soul shall only benefit from the good that he earns for himself.

Quran 53:39] "And that man can have nothing except what he does (good or bad)."

That Day everyone will worry about his ownself and become careless of others.

Quran 80:34-37] "That Day shall a man flee from his brother, And from his mother and his father, And from his wife and his children. Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others."

For your own success, you have to make your own efforts.

A poem on "The Prophet of Islam"

What a year was 570 AD
A person was born, a prophet to be
Muhammed (saws) that was his name
People were misguided and that’s when he came
He would go on to leave all the idols behind
He is an example to all of mankind

Rabbi al Awwal the 12th that was the day
He came to this world to show us the way
He was born in Mecca, the holiest place
A life full of challenges he was to face
Abdullah (ra) his father, had by then passed away
Leaving Amina (ra) his mother, in her arms he lay

Halima Sadia, took over his care
Until he was six, our prophet was there
His mother then died, he was left all alone
Abdul Muttalib (ra) his grand-dad then made him his own
When our prophet was nine, his grandfather died
Abu Talib, his uncle, became his new guide

In his 20′s, a merchant Muhammed (saws) became by trade
Al-Amin - the trustworthy - became his grade
Hazrat Khadija (ra) aged 40, became his bride
He was 25, with her by his side
To the poor, she gave away all her wealth
A dedicated wife in sickness and health

360 idols in the Ka'abah, they were at that time
Our prophet realised that this was a crime
He would go to mount Hira, leaving behind his wife
Reflecting and wondering about the meaning of life

While thinking there in the midst of the night
He heard a loud voice which filled him with fright
It was the angel Gibrail (as) who asked him to read
Our prophet couldn’t and didn’t take heed
The angel embraced him and then asked him later
Read, Read in the name of the Creator
Who created man from a drop of blood

Our prophet couldn’t read but at that time he could
Our prophet rushed to the path straight ahead
He heard a voice from the heavens which said
Muhammed (saws) truly you are the messenger of Allah
Muhammed (saws) was scared and thought this quite odd
‘Praise be to Allah’ his wife said instead
”I know you’ve been chosen as Allah’s messenger’ she said
And thus Khadija (ra) became the first woman of Islam

And over the next 23 years came the revelation, the Quran
He preached to all people, every creed every race
Yet so many hardships he had to face
There were fears for his life, and then the Hijrat took place
He then entered Medina, all by Allah’s grace
He was greeted by the Ansaris who gave their salaam
To him and his companions, the Sahaba Ikraam

Then came the battles, which were fought face to face
Then the conquest of Mecca, Muhammed's (saws) birthplace
An Nasr was revealed, its message was clear
Muhammed (saws) knew that his time was near
Everyone gathered to hear his last speech
Little did they know how far Allah’s message would reach

Muhammed (saws) gave us the miracle the Quran
And now a 1/4 of the world follows Islam
He is our role-model, the best of mankind
And has left the Quran and his Sunnah behind

Read the Quran as much as you can
The words of Allah for the guidance of man
And follow our prophet’s Sunnah, in eating and dressing
And send him salutations and many a blessing
He came to mankind to show us the way
And Insha-Allah, we’ll meet him; we’ll meet him one day.

Overeating and Obesity

Messenger of Allah (Saw) said: “No human ever filled a vessel worse than the stomach. Sufficient for any son of Aadam are some morsels to keep his back straight. But if it must be, then one third for his food, one third for his drink and one third for his breath.”

[Ahmad- saheeh.]

We must eat to satisfy our hunger but not till we feel heavy. Ibn Masaweh, a Muslim doctor, said after reading this hadeeth: “If the people only used these words, they would avoid all diseases and maladies and the clinics and pharmacies would be idle.

✪✪✪ Whoever takes control of his stomach, he gets control of all good deeds!

Prophet (s) said “The believer eats with one stomach while the disbeliever eats with seven stomachs.” (Bukhari) Meaning: A muslim must eat with the manners of Islam and in moderation.

Overeating weighs a person down, makes him lazy and stops him from achieving his goals. Imam Ash-Shaafi’ee said:

“I have not filled myself in sixteen years because filling oneself makes the body heavy, removes clear understanding, induces sleep and makes one weak for worship.”

✪✪✪ Don't be controlled by your lust for food

Prophet (S) said "My greatest fear for you is the appetites of transgression with regard to your stomachs and your private parts and the inclination which lead astray.”
[Ahmad, saheeh]

A Muslim should not merely follow his lusts and appetites. Allaah says:

Quran 19: 59-60] “Then, they were followed by generations who neglected the prayer and followed their lusts. They will encounter a pit of fire except for those who repent…”

✪✪✪ Remember the test of Prophet Adam a.s.

Al-Hasan Al-Basree said: “The test of Aadam a.s. was food and it is your test until Qiyamah.”

Remember the story of Aadam a.s. who was forbidden from eating the fruit of a tree. This was his test. Similarly, it is a test for all of us to control our lust for food, so that our desires do not take control over us and we are not distracted from our goal of life, which is: Defeating our Nafs (lusts, desires) and doing good deeds to please Allah and attain Paradise.

✪✪✪ Overeating that leads to obesity is forbidden in Islam

Quran 2:195] “Do not cast yourselves into destruction by your own hands.”

Obesity has serious consequences: Increases risk of diabetes, heart disease, stroke, arthritis, some cancers and other conditions.

Never Say "I'm too sinful so Allah will not forgive me"

To claim that, "Allah cannot forgive me," is a bigger sin than any other sin that you have done.

When you say "I am too sinful, there is no point in repenting, Allah cannot forgive me, I am too sinful." - This very claim of yours is a bigger sin than anything else you might have done as a Muslim. O Muslim, no matter how sinful you are,
do you think that you alone single handedly have commited so many sins that you can emcompass Allah's mercy, and that Allah's mercy cannot forgive you, and that you can challenge the Rahmaan (the Most-Beneficient) and the Raheem (the Most-Merciful)? WHO ARE YOU? AND WHAT ARE YOUR SINS IN COMPARISON TO THE INFINITE MERCY OF ALLAH?!

That arrogance is a greater crime and greater sin than any other sin you might have done. And that is why the Prophet (s.a.w.s) said that the biggest of all sins is Shirk (polytheism) and to give up hope of Allah's mercy and, that is, to say that Allah cannot forgive me.

4) The Greatest Commandment in the Bible and the Quran

5) Paul Believed That Jesus is not God

6) Evidence from the Gospel of John

7) God and Jesus Are Two Separate Beings

1) None of the Bible’s Writers Believed That Jesus is God:

Christians and Muslims both believe in Jesus, love him, and honor him. They are, however, divided over the question of his divinity.

Fortunately, this difference can be resolved if we refer the question to both the Bible and the Quran, because, both the Bible and the Quran teach that Jesus is not God.

It is clear enough to everyone that the Quran denies the divinity of Jesus, so we do not need to spend much time explaining that.

On the other hand, many people misunderstand the Bible; they feel that the belief in Jesus as God is so widespread that it must have come from the Bible. This article shows quite conclusively that the Bible does not teach that.

The Bible clearly teaches that Jesus is not God. In the Bible God is always someone else other than Jesus.

Some will say that something Jesus said or something he did while on the earth proves that he is God. We will show that the disciples never came to the conclusion that Jesus is God. And those are people who lived and walked with Jesus and thus knew first hand what he said and did. Furthermore, we are told in the Acts of the Apostles in the Bible that the disciples were being guided by the Holy Spirit. If Jesus is God, surely they should know it. But they did not. They kept worshipping the one true God who was worshipped by Abraham, Moses, and Jesus (see Acts 3:13).

All of the writers of the Bible believed that God was not Jesus. The idea that Jesus is God did not become part of Christian belief until after the Bible was written, and took many centuries to become part of the faith of Christians.

Matthew, Mark, and Luke, authors of the first three Gospels, believed that Jesus was not God (see Mark 10:18 and Matthew 19:17). They believed that he was the son of God in the sense of a righteous person. Many others too, are similarly called sons of God (see Matthew 23:1-9).

Paul, believed to be the author of some thirteen or fourteen letters in the Bible, also believed that Jesus is not God. For Paul, God first created Jesus, then used Jesus as the agent by which to create the rest of creation (see Colossians 1:15 and 1 Corinthians 8:6). Similar ideas are found in the letter to the Hebrews, and also in the Gospel and Letters of John composed some seventy years after Jesus. In all of these writings, however, Jesus is still a creature of God and is therefore forever subservient to God (see 1 Corinthians 15:28).

Now, because Paul, John, and the author of Hebrews believed that Jesus was God’s first creature, some of what they wrote clearly show that Jesus was a pre-existent powerful being. This is often misunderstood to mean that he must have been God. But to say that Jesus was God is to go against what these very authors wrote. Although these authors had this later belief that Jesus is greater than all creatures, they also believed that he was still lesser than God. In fact, John quotes Jesus as saying: “...the Father is greater than I.” (John 14:28). And Paul declares that the head of every woman is her husband, the head of every man is Christ, and the head of Christ is God (see 1 Corinthians 11:3).

Therefore, to find something in these writings and claim that these teach that Jesus is God is to misuse and misquote what those authors are saying. What they wrote must be understood in the context of their belief that Jesus is a creature of God as they have already clearly said.

So we see then, that some of the later writers had a higher view of Jesus, but none of the writers of the Bible believed that Jesus is God. The Bible clearly teaches that there is only one true God, the one whom Jesus worshipped (see John 17: 3).

In the rest of this article we will explore the Bible in more depth, and deal with the passages which are most often misquoted as proofs of Jesus’ divinity. We will show, with God’s help, that these do not mean what they are so often used to prove.

2) Evidence From the Acts of the Apostles:

Jesus performed many miraculous wonders, and he without doubt said a lot of wonderful things about himself. Some people use what he said and did as a proof that he was God. But his original disciples who lived and walked with him, and were eyewitnesses to what he said and did, never reached this conclusion.

The Acts of the Apostles in the Bible details the activity of the disciples over a period of thirty years after Jesus was lifted up to heaven. Throughout this period they never refer to Jesus as God. They continually and consistently use the title God to refer to someone else other than Jesus.

Peter stood up with the eleven disciples and addressed the crowd saying: “Men of Israel, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know.” (Acts 2:22).

It was God, therefore, who did the miracles through Jesus to convince people that Jesus was backed by God. Peter did not see the miracles as proof that Jesus is God.

In fact, the way Peter refers to God and to Jesus makes it clear that Jesus is not God. For he always turns the title God away from Jesus. Take the following references for example:

“God has raised this Jesus...” (Acts 2:32)

“God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.” (Acts 2:36)

In both passages, the title God is turned away from Jesus. So why he did this, if Jesus was God?

For Peter, Jesus was a servant of God. Peter said: “God raised up his servant...” (Acts 3:26). The title servant refers to Jesus. This is clear from a previous passage where Peter declared: “The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his servant Jesus.” (Acts 3:13).

Peter must have known that Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob never spoke of a Triune God. They always spoke of God as the only God. Here, as in Matthew 12:18, Jesus is the servant of God. Matthew tells us that Jesus was the same servant of God spoken of in Isaiah 42:1. So, according to Matthew and Peter, Jesus is not God, but God’s servant. The Old Testament repeatedly says that God is alone (e.g. Isaiah 45:5).

All of the disciples of Jesus held this view. In Acts 4:24 we are told that the believers prayed to God saying: “...they raised their voices together in prayer to God. ‘Sovereign Lord,’ they said, ‘you made the heaven and the earth and the sea, and everything in them.’” It is clear that the one they were praying to was not Jesus, because, two verses later, they referred to Jesus as “...your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed.” (Acts 4:27).

If Jesus was God, his disciples should have said this clearly. Instead, they kept preaching that Jesus was God’s Christ. We are told in Acts: “Day after day, in the temple courts and from house to house, they never stopped teaching and proclaiming the good news that Jesus is the Christ.” (Acts 5:42).

The Greek word “Christ” is a human title. It means “Anointed.” If Jesus was God, why would the disciples continually refer to him with human titles like servant and Christ of God, and consistently use the title God for the one who raised Jesus? Did they fear men? No! They boldly preached the truth fearing neither imprisonment nor death. When they faced opposition from the authorities, Peter declared: “We must obey God rather than men! The God of our fathers raised Jesus...” (Acts 5:29-30).

Were they lacking the Holy Spirit? No! They were supported by the Holy Spirit (see Acts 2:3, 4:8, and 5:32). They were simply teaching what they had learnt from Jesus — that Jesus was not God but, rather, God’s servant and Christ.

The Quran confirms that Jesus was the Messiah (Christ), and that he was God’s servant (see the Holy Quran 3:45 and 19:30).

3) Jesus is Not All-Powerful, and Not All-Knowing:

Christians and Muslims agree that God is all-powerful and all-knowing. The Gospels show that Jesus was not all-powerful, and not all-knowing, since he had some limitations.

Mark tells us in his gospel that Jesus was unable to do any powerful work in his hometown except few things: “He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them.” (Mark 6:5). Mark also tells us that when Jesus tried to heal a certain blind man, the man was not healed after the first attempt, and Jesus had to try a second time (see Mark 8:22-26).

Therefore, although we hold a great love and respect for Jesus, we need to understand that he is not the all-powerful God.

Mark’s Gospel also reveals that Jesus had limitations in his knowledge. In Mark 13:32, Jesus declared that he himself does not know when the last day will occur, but the Father alone knows that (see also Matthew 24:36).

Therefore, Jesus could not have been the all-knowing God. Some will say that Jesus knew when the last day will occur, but he chose not to tell. But that complicates matters further. Jesus could have said that he knows but he does not wish to tell. Instead, he said that he does not know. We must believe him. Jesus does not lie at all.

The Gospel of Luke also reveals that Jesus had limited knowledge. Luke says that Jesus increased in wisdom (Luke 2:52). In Hebrews too (Hebrews 5:8) we read that Jesus learned obedience. But God’s knowledge and wisdom is always perfect, and God does not learn new things. He knows everything always. So, if Jesus learned something new, that proves that he did not know everything before that, and thus he was not God.

Another example for the limited knowledge of Jesus is the fig tree episode in the Gospels. Mark tells us as follows: “The next day as they were leaving Bethany, Jesus was hungry. Seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to find out if it had any fruit. When he reached it, he found nothing but leaves, because it was not the season for figs.” (Mark 11:12-13).

It is clear from these verses that the knowledge of Jesus was limited on two counts. First, he did not know that the tree had no fruit until he came to it. Second, he did not know that it was not the right season to expect figs on trees.

Can he become God later? No! Because there is only one God, and He is God from everlasting to everlasting (see Psalms 90:2).

Someone may say that Jesus was God but he took the form of a servant and therefore became limited. Well, that would mean that God changed. But God does not change. God said so according to Malachi 3:6.

Jesus never was God, and never will be. In the Bible, God declares: “Before me no god was formed, nor will there be one after me.” (Isaiah 43:10).

The Bible clearly shows that Jesus was not all-powerful and all-knowing as the true God should be.

4) The Greatest Commandment in the Bible and the Quran:

Some will say that this whole discussion over the divinity of Jesus is unnecessary. They say, the important thing is to accept Jesus as your personal savior. On the contrary, the Bible’s writers stressed that, in order to be saved, it is necessary to understand who exactly is God. Failure to understand this would be to violate the first and greatest of all the commandments in the Bible. This commandment was emphasized by Jesus, on whom be peace, when a teacher of the Law of Moses asked him: “‘Of all the commandments, which is the most important?’ ‘The most important one,’ answered Jesus, ‘is this: Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’” (Mark 12:28-30).

Notice that Jesus was quoting the first commandment from the book of Deuteronomy 6:4-5. Jesus confirmed not only that this commandment is still valid, but also that it is the most important of all the commandments. If Jesus thought that he himself is God, why did not he say so? Instead, he stressed that God is one. The man who questioned Jesus understood this, and what the man says next makes it clear that God is not Jesus, for he said to Jesus: “‘Well said, teacher,’ the man replied. ‘You are right in saying that God is one and there is no other but him.’” (Mark 12:32).

Now if Jesus was God, he would have told the man so. Instead, he let the man refer to God as someone other than Jesus, and he even saw that the man had spoken wisely: “When Jesus saw that he had answered wisely, he said to him, ‘You are not far from the kingdom of God.’” (Mark 12:34). If Jesus knew that God is a trinity, why did not he say so? Why did not he say that God is one in three, or three in one? Instead, he declared that God is one. True imitators of Jesus will imitate him also in this declaration of God’s oneness. They will not add the word three where Jesus never said it.

Does salvation depend on this commandment? Yes, says the Bible! Jesus made this clear when another man approached Jesus to learn from him (see Mark 10:17-29). The man fell on his knees and said to Jesus: “Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” Jesus replied: “Why do you call me good? No one is good — except God alone.” (Mark 10:17-18).

By so saying, Jesus made a clear distinction between himself and God. Then he proceeded with the answer to the man’s question about how to get salvation. Jesus told him: “If you want to enter life, obey the commandments.” (Matthew 19:17, also see Mark 10:19).

Remember that the most important of all the commandments, according to Jesus, is to know God as the only God. Jesus further emphasized this in the Gospel According to John. In John 17:1, Jesus lifted his eyes to heaven and prayed, addressing God as Father. Then in verse three, he said to God as follows: “Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.” (John 17:3).

This proves beyond doubt that if people want to get eternal life they must know that the One, whom Jesus was praying to, is the only true God, and they must know that Jesus was sent by the true God. Some say that the Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Ghost is God. But Jesus said that the Father alone is the only true God. True followers of Jesus will follow him in this too. Jesus had said that his true followers are those who hold to his teachings. He said: “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples.” (John 8:31). His teaching is that people must continue to keep the commandments, especially the first commandment which emphasizes that God is alone, and that God should be loved with all our hearts and all our strengths.

We love Jesus, but we must not love him as God. Today many love Jesus more than they love God. This is because they see God as a vengeful person who wanted to exact a penalty from them, and they see Jesus as the savior who rescued them from the wrath of God. Yet God is our only savior. According to Isaiah 43:11, God said: “I, even I, am the LORD, and apart from me there is no savior.” Also God said according to Isaiah 45:21-22: “Was it not I, the LORD? And there is no God apart from me, a righteous God and a Savior; there is none but me. Turn to me and be saved, all you ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other.”

The Quran confirms the first commandment and addresses it to all humankind (see the Holy Quran 2:163). And God declares that true believers love Him more than anyone else or anything else (Quran 2:165).

5) Paul Believed That Jesus is not God:

Many people use Paul’s writings as proof that Jesus is God. But this is not fair to Paul, because Paul clearly believed that Jesus is not God. In his first letter to Timothy, Paul wrote: “I charge you, in the sight of God and Christ Jesus and the elect angels, to keep these instructions...” (1 Timothy 5:21).

It is clear from this that the title God applies not to Christ Jesus, but to someone else. In the following chapter, he again differentiates between God and Jesus when he says: “In the sight of God, who gives life to everything, and of Christ Jesus, who while testifying before Pontius Pilate made the good confession...” (1 Timothy 6:13).

Paul then went on to speak of the second appearance of Jesus: “the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, which God will bring about in his own time.” (1 Timothy 6:14-15).

Again, the title God is deliberately turned away from Jesus. Incidentally, many people think that when Jesus is called “Lord” in the Bible that this means “God.” But in the Bible this title means master or teacher, and it can be used for addressing humans (see 1 Peter 3:6).

What is more important, however, is to notice what Paul said about God in the following passage, which clearly shows that Jesus is not God: “God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see. To him be honor and might forever.” (1 Timothy 6:15-16).

Paul said that God alone is immortal. Immortal means he does not die. Check any dictionary. Now, anyone who believes that Jesus died cannot believe that Jesus is God. Such a belief would contradict what Paul said here. Furthermore, to say that God died is a blasphemy against God. Who would run the world if God died? Paul believed that God does not die.

Paul also said in that passage that God dwells in unapproachable light — that no one has seen God or can see him. Paul knew that many thousands of people had seen Jesus. Yet Paul said that no one has seen God, because Paul was sure that Jesus is not God. This is why Paul went on teaching that Jesus was not God, but that he was the Christ (see Acts 9:22 and 18:5).

When he was in Athens, Paul spoke of God as “The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands.” (Acts 17:24). Then he identified Jesus as “the man he (i.e. God) has appointed.” (Acts 17:31).

Clearly, for Paul, Jesus was not God, and he would be shocked to see his writings used for proving the opposite of what he believed. Paul even testified in court saying: “I admit that I worship the God of our fathers...” (Acts 24:14).

He also said that Jesus is the servant of that God, for we read in Acts: “The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his servant Jesus.” (Acts 3:13).

For Paul, the Father alone is God. Paul said that there is “one God and Father of all...” (Ephesians 4:6). Paul said again: “...for us there is but one God, the Father . . . and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ...” (1 Corinthians 8:6).

Paul’s letter to the Philippians (Philippians 2:6-11) is often quoted as a proof that Jesus is God. But the very passage shows that Jesus is not God. This passage has to agree with Isaiah 45:22-24 where God said that every knee should bow to God, and every tongue should confess that righteousness and strength are in God alone. Paul was aware of this passage, for he quoted it in Romans 14:11. Knowing this, Paul declared: “I kneel before the Father.” (Ephesians 3:14).

The letter to the Hebrews (Hebrews 1:6) says that the angels of God should worship the Son. But this passage depends on Deuteronomy 32:43, in the Septuagint version of the Old Testament. This phrase cannot be found in the Old Testament used by Christians today, and the Septuagint version is no longer considered valid by Christians. However, even the Septuagint version, does not say worship the Son. It says let the Angels of God worship God. The Bible insists that God alone is to be worshipped: “When the LORD made a covenant with the Israelites, he commanded them: ‘Do not worship any other gods or bow down to them, serve them or sacrifice to them. But the LORD, who brought you up out of Egypt with mighty power and outstretched arm, is the one you must worship. To him you shall bow down and to him offer sacrifices. You must always be careful to keep the decrees and ordinances, the laws and commands he wrote for you. Do not worship other gods. Do not forget the covenant I have made with you, and do not worship other gods. Rather, worship the LORD your God; it is he who will deliver you from the hand of all your enemies.’” (2 Kings 17:35-39).

Jesus, on whom be peace, believed in this, for he also stressed it in Luke 4:8. And Jesus too fell on his face and worshipped God (see Matthew 26:39). Paul knew that Jesus worshipped God (see Hebrews 5:7). Paul taught that Jesus will remain forever subservient to God (see 1 Corinthians 15:28).

6) Evidence from the Gospel of John:

The Gospel of John, the fourth Gospel, was completed to its present form some seventy years after Jesus was raised up to heaven. This Gospel in its final form says one more thing about Jesus that was unknown from the previous three Gospels — that Jesus was the Word of God. John means that Jesus was God’s agent through whom God created everything else. This is often misunderstood to mean that Jesus was God Himself. But John was saying, as Paul had already said, that Jesus was God’s first creature. In the Book of Revelation in the Bible, we find that Jesus is: “the beginning of God’s creation” (Revelation 3:14, also see 1 Corinthians 8:6 and Colossians 1:15).

Anyone who says that the Word of God is a person distinct from God must also admit that the Word was created, for the Word speaks in the Bible saying: “The LORD brought me forth as the first of his works...” (Proverbs 8:22).

This Gospel, nevertheless, clearly teaches that Jesus is not God. If it did not continue this teaching, then it would contradict the other three Gospels and also the letters of Paul from which it is clearly established that Jesus is not God. We find here that Jesus was not co-equal with the Father, for Jesus said: “...the Father is greater than I.” (John 14:28).

People forget this and they say that Jesus is equal to the Father. Whom should we believe — Jesus or the people? Muslims and Christians agree that God is self-existent. This means that He does not derive his existence from anyone. Yet John tells us that Jesus’ existence is caused by the Father. Jesus said in this Gospel: “...I live because of the Father...” (John 6:57).

John tells us that Jesus cannot do anything by his own when he quotes Jesus as saying: “By myself I can do nothing...” (John 5:30). This agrees with what we learn about Jesus from other Gospels. In Mark, for example, we learn that Jesus performed miracles by a power which was not within his control. This is especially clear from an episode in which a woman is healed of her incurable bleeding. The woman came up behind him and touched his cloak, and she was immediately healed. But Jesus had no idea who touched him. Mark describes Jesus’ actions thus: “At once Jesus realized that power had gone out from him. He turned around in the crowd and asked, ‘Who touched my clothes?’” (Mark 5:30). His disciples could not provide a satisfactory answer, so Mark tells us: “Jesus kept looking around to see who had done it.” (Mark 5:32). This shows that the power that healed the woman was not within Jesus’ control. He knew that the power had gone out of him, but he did not know where it went. Some other intelligent being had to guide that power to the woman who needed to be healed. God was that intelligent being.

It is no wonder, then, that in Acts of the Apostles we read that it was God who did the miracles through Jesus (Acts 2:22).

God did extraordinary miracles through others too, but that does not make the others God (see Acts 19:11). Why, then, is Jesus taken for God? Even when Jesus raised his friend Lazarus from the dead, he had to ask God to do it. Lazarus’ sister, Martha, knew this, for she said to Jesus: “I know that even now God will give you whatever you ask.” (John 11:22).

Martha knew that Jesus was not God, and John who reported this with approval knew it also. Jesus had a God, for when he was about to ascend to heaven, he said: “I am returning to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.” (John 20:17).

John was sure that no one had seen God, although he knew that many people had seen Jesus (see John 1:18 and 1 John 4:12). In fact Jesus himself told the crowds, that they have never seen the Father, nor have they heard the Father’s voice (John 5:37). Notice that if Jesus was the Father, his statement here would be false. Who is the only God in John’s Gospel? The Father alone.

Jesus testified this when he declared that the God of the Jews is the Father (John 8:54). Jesus too confirmed that the Father alone is the only true God (see John 17:1-3). And Jesus said to his enemies: “...you are determined to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God.” (John 8:40). According to John, therefore, Jesus was not God, and nothing John wrote should be taken as proof that he was God — unless one wishes to disagree with John.

7) God and Jesus Are Two Separate Beings:

Many people use certain verses of the Bible as proof that Jesus is God. However, all of these verses, when understood in context, prove the opposite!

For example, in Matthew 9:2, Jesus said to a certain man, “Take heart, son; your sins are forgiven.” Because of this, some say that Jesus must be God since only God can forgive sins. However, if you are willing to read just a few verses further, you will find that the people “...praised God, who had given such authority to men.” (Matthew 9:8). This shows that the people knew, and Matthew agrees, that Jesus is not the only man to receive such authority from God.

Jesus himself emphasized that he does not speak on his own authority (John 14:10) and he does nothing on his own authority, but he speaks only what the Father has taught him (John 8:28). What Jesus did here was as follows. Jesus announced to the man the knowledge Jesus received from God that God had forgiven the man.

Notice that Jesus did not say, “I forgive your sins,” but rather, “your sins are forgiven,” implying, as this would to his Jewish listeners, that God had forgiven the man. Jesus, then, did not have the power to forgive sins, and in that very episode he called himself “the Son of Man” (Matthew 9:6).

John 10:30 is often used as proof that Jesus is God because Jesus said, “I and the father are one.” But, if you read the next six verses, you will find Jesus explaining that his enemies were wrong to think that he was claiming to be God. What Jesus obviously means here is that he is one with the Father in purpose. Jesus also prayed that his disciples should be one just as Jesus and the Father are one. Obviously, he was not praying that all his disciples should somehow merge into one individual (see John 17:11 and 22). And when Luke reports that the disciples were all one, Luke does not mean that they became one single human being, but that they shared a common purpose although they were separate beings (see Acts 4:32). In terms of essence, Jesus and the Father are two, for Jesus said they are two witnesses (John 8:14-18). They have to be two, since one is greater than the other (see John 14:28). When Jesus prayed to be saved from the cross, he said: “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.” (Luke 22:42).

This shows that they had two separate wills, although Jesus submitted his will to the will of the Father. Two wills mean two separate individuals.

Furthermore, Jesus is reported to have said: “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” (Matthew 27:46). If one of them forsook the other, then they must be two separate entities.

Again, Jesus is reported to have said: “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.” (Luke 23:46). If the spirit of one can be placed into the hands of another, they must be two separate beings.

In all of these instances, Jesus is clearly subordinate to the Father. When Jesus knelt down and prayed he obviously was not praying to himself (see Luke 22:41). He was praying to his God.

Throughout the New Testament, the Father alone is called God. In fact, the titles “Father” and “God” are used to designate one individual, not three, and never Jesus. This is also clear from the fact that Matthew substituted the title “Father” in the place of the title “God” in at least two places in his Gospel (compare Matthew 10:29 with Luke 12:6, and Matthew 12:50 with Mark 3:35). If Matthew is right in doing so, then the Father alone is God.

Was Jesus the Father? No! Because Jesus said: “And do not call anyone on earth ‘father,’ for you have one Father, and he is in heaven.” (Matthew 23:9). So Jesus is not the Father, since Jesus was standing on the earth when he said this.

The Quran seeks to bring people back to the true faith that was taught by Jesus, and by his true disciples who continued in his teaching. That teaching emphasized a continued commitment to the first commandment that God is alone. In the Quran, God directs Muslims to call readers of the Bible back to that true faith. God have said in the Quran:

Say: “O people of the Book (Christians and Jews)! Come to a word that is just between us and you: that we shall worship none but God, and that we shall associate no partners with Him, and that none of us shall take others as lords beside God.” (Quran, 3:64)
